The Women’s Premier League squad that will begin the season for Tuggeranong United has been announced, with a healthy mix of experience and youth.  Led by Women’s Club Captain Meg McLaughlin and vice captain Steph Coates, the side will be seeking to better 2015’s semi final run, where TUFC was eliminated in a nail-biting penalty shoot out with Canberra FC.

Up front the Tuggies squad has plenty of firepower, with the inclusion of youth product Sophia Evans, joining the experienced Anna Doyle, Alex Lawrence and Canberra United star McLaughlin.  The last full season McLaughlin played she scored 36 goals, so this bunch of sharpshooters is a group to watch this season.

The strength of Dianne Wilson in the midfield will be pivotal to the campaign, with the reliable Stephanie Madrid also adding confidence to combat some highly credentialed opposition to come.

Coates will lead the defence that was third-best in last year’s WPL, ably assisted by the experienced Sonya Sheedy and Renae Shatzman.

Coach Michael Aldred has nothing but big achievements in mind for the 2016 WPL season, and has made it clear that all WPL squad members across the youth grades have the opportunity to earn their place in the top team during the season.  All Tuggies fans should make time to see the squad in their first outing on Sunday 3rd April.
