Tim Ireson is a legend of Tuggeranong United as a player, and he’s also a legend off it. Tim is heading to Tanna Island in Vanuatu in February to help rebuild the primary schools and kindergartens destroyed by Cyclone Pam in March last year. His trip is part of Samaritan’s Purse’s Vanuatu Disaster Education Rebuild Project. We need to help Tim raise the money to go, because someone giving so much shouldn’t have to cover their travel costs as well, let’s pitch in.
“Iro” played through the Tuggies junior ranks and found his way into the Premier League program. His level-headed defending was always dependable, and he soon found his way into the first team, making over 150 ACT Premier League appearances and rising to Club Captain in 2009. An outstanding example of club loyalty, Tim now plays in Men’s Capital League and can be seen each Saturday at MiniRoo matches with his young family.
Tim has a Go Fund Me page for those who would like to help him get to Vanuatu. Any extra money he raises he will spend on tools to leave behind for the trade centre being set up there. Let’s show some loyalty to someone who has shown nothing but loyalty to his football club, and is everything we want our young Tuggies players to become.
