Tuggies Finals Week 3

A massive five Grand Finals will be contested by TUFC this weekend, the largest in recent history, possibly ever!

Before they start however, one of the most exciting sides at Tuggies will play for their own GF spot.  The National Premier League U12s take on Belconnen United on Saturday morning at the AIS after we dispatched Woden-Weston last week in the semi.  We have beaten this team twice this season, but Saturday is when it counts for these impressive youngsters who are the future of your club.  Jordan Gillogly is the stand out on the stats sheet with a whopping 23 goals, but fans will know that this is a well rounded team that leaves nothing on the field.  Come on the youngsters!

The Men’s Capital League Reserves will take on ANU FC in what will be a tough encounter (preview here), but with an undefeated streak since June we like our chances!  In Men’s SL5 it’s a local derby with some heat in it, as we take on a Burns FC side sporting many ex-Tuggies PL players.  It will not be a game for the faint hearted, but the state league experience of Jake Padrotta’s team runs deep and we also like our chances here.  In Men’s SL8 Grant “G-Rant” Cussan’s side will be confident they can knock over Monaro Panthers, a side we finished 12 point clear of, but after our opposition knocked out a very strong Gundaroo side last week there’s no room for complacency.

On Sunday it’s the Men’s and Women’s Masters that will be representing.  Our Women’s Masters side put in a very strong season finishing comfortably in second spot in a league that is dominated by their opposition this Sunday, Weston Molonglo Spirit.  Although we are the underdogs, that just mean’s that all the pressure is on Weston, and our team is more than capable of this upset.  Kerry Neall leads the scoring with 13, closely followed by Sharrin Wells and the experienced Heather Casey.  Then at Hackett it’s time for the Men’s Masters Saints to play for the double, after their league-winning performance this season, can we pull off the GF win as well?  We play a Woden Valley side that we’ve played four times this year, two draws and a win each way.  This will be a close match.  The men pulled off an extra time win last week in front of a big crowd at Kambah and will intend to finish off the match well before 90 this week.

Good luck to all our teams this weekend – get out there Tuggies fans!

The after-Grand Final party for Saturday is at Rose Cottage, all the family are welcome, live music is ON!
