Tuggies into the WPL finals! (NOTE VENUE CHANGE)

Our headline finals appearance this season is the Women’s Premier League squad, who have made the finals for the first time since the WPL was established.

We finished fourth on the ladder with 20 point and six wins.  The highlight results were a massive 8-0 win over Monaro in round 5 – Kristy Helmers slotted six!- and a 0-0 draw with champions Belconnen United in round 2, the only points they dropped until round 13 and one of only two matches they didn’t win all season.

Our opposition this Sunday is Canberra FC, a team we are yet to beat this year.  A draw and two wins to CFC are how it stands, but this Sunday is the one that counts and it is the right time of year for our team to be peaking.  The addition of Canberra United’s Meg McLaughlin after a long injury layoff will boost the Tuggies girls.  Mel celebrated her return with a hat-trick against the Panthers a couple of weeks ago, and partnered with her home-grown strike partner Helmers, well, let’s just say the CFC defenders better eat their weet-bix on Sunday morning.

Let’s make it a good old fashioned loud Tuggies crowd at AIS on Sunday afternoon and cheer the team on to glory!  COME ON TUGGIES!
