In a massive match at Deakin on Saturday our NPL18s boys fought hard to defeat league winners Canberra Olympic 2-1 in extra time in front of a big Tuggies crowd. We now await our opposition to be decided this week as Olympic take on Woden-Weston. The GF will be next Saturday – can’t wait! Capital Football reviews the match below.
PlayStation 4® National Premier Leagues: Capital Football
Tuggeranong United are into the PlayStation 4® National Premier Leagues: Capital Football under-18 Grand Final with a 2-1 defeat of Canberra Olympic in a match that went into extra-time at Deakin Stadium. A goal from Jude Judd, keeping his calm and showing a composure beyond his years, sealed the victory after Olympic had forced the match into the extra half-hour. United led earlier when Liam Robertson headed home a pin-point Rhys Gurney cross but Olympic hit back through Rylie Young to end the ninety minutes all-square at 1-1. However, it was Tuggeranong who finished stronger and will sit back for a week before discovering their opponents. They will play either Canberra Olympic or Woden-Weston FC after the Woden side saw off Canberra FC 2-1 in another match that went the full distance of 120 minutes. Will Laird gave Woden-Weston the lead in the first half but FC drew level when Gareth Povel found room to manoeuvre and finish well to bring his side all-square. With neither side able to make the breakthrough in regular time, an additional thirty minutes was added and, in that period Christian Perryman scored the decisive goal that sent Woden-Weston into the Preliminary Final and ended Canberra FC’s campaign.
