Our Meet the Coaches series continues as we meet our awesome coaching staff! Next up is Oli Carr!

🟢 What team do you coach?
This year I’ll be taking the U16s Capital Premier League Boys team.

🟢 How long have you coached at TUFC?
This will be my third year at Tuggies.

🟢 What is the best thing about coaching at TUFC?
Without a doubt it’s seeing the teams play great football whilst having fun and seeing the players maturing as people. Being able to form rewarding relationships with teams and seeing them progress under their coach’s guidance is the most fulfilling thing I have done. Not only giving back to and strengthening the local community, but the Australian football community as a whole is a fantastic position to be in.

🟢 Who has had the biggest impact on you as a coach?
Probably my old cricket coach Grant Stanley. Even though we were worlds apart as people and he was about 40 years older than me, he found what we had in common and built a relationship of trust and understanding. He is the foundation for my current coaching style and how to build relationships with players. Rest In Peace Grant.

🟢 What team do you currently enjoy watching the most?
I love watching Brentford at the moment. They are a fast-paced all out team that play football in the way that is most exciting and interesting to me. In my opinion, teams will be looking towards them as one of the pioneers of modern football tactics and club management.

🟢 What's the most rewarding thing about coaching at TUFC?
The most rewarding thing is either working on something hard on the training field and seeing it come off in a game or seeing a player crack a smile after giving them a compliment that they genuinely deserved. Even if these things only happen a couple of times a season, I know I’m being a positive influence somehow.

Oli is a terrific coach who is heavily involved in our Capital Premier League Boys program at trainings and match days! Make sure you say hello to Oli the next time you see him and thank him for the great work he is doing for the club 👏
