Great news for the Tuggeranong Valley yesterday with the Canberra Liberals team for Brindabella announcing a $5.4 million funding commitment to Tuggeranong United Football Club for upgrades to the Kambah 2 precinct and $1.5m for the Brindabella Blues Football Club (BBFC) at Calwell. The vision of an improved Kambah 2 precinct that TUFC and ACT Eagles Baseball Club share is one that will benefit the whole community.

As the largest sporting organisation in Tuggeranong, for too long we have all had to put up with substandard facilities at Kambah. There are no disabled toilets, the public toilets are around the back and lack lighting and modern amenities, our canteen is a shipping container, the fence surrounding the main oval is falling apart, there is no meeting space, no events space, and nowhere to host sponsors or VIPs. Recent football finals have shown both the potential and the shortfalls of the precinct.

The changerooms barely fit a whole team in them. That's not even the worst of it. On game days, each club has to share one changeroom, with multiple teams of different ages. That has resulted in some teams being denied access to change rooms because the facilities can't meet everyone's needs. That means players are often forced to change out in the open.

As the number of women playing sport continues to grow, the current facilities are just not good enough. It is important to note that it is not just TUFC that benefits. It will be all users of Kambah 2; of which there are many. Our great friends at Eagles Baseball Club will also benefit from the project through new and upgraded baseball facilities. The broader vision is to create a precinct that can be activated for the wider community.

We appreciate the support from Mark Parton MLA ,James Daniels - Liberal for Brindabella , Rosa Harber - Liberal for Brindabella, Sandi Mitra - Liberal for Brindabella, and Deborah Morris - Liberal for Brindabella

We can't wait to start!
